Heads Up!

Next week each of the 6500+ FCCLA chapters will receive an informational/promotional packet about the upcoming DigIt campaign for
Children's Miracle Network.

We will be participating in this promotion and will share with the chapter as soon as we have a chance to look it over.
But here's a sneak peek at the project:

"This truly unique campaign raises money for the amazing Children’s Miracle Network. The campaign leaders consist of 7,000 FCCLA chapters across the country. In the spring of 2010 and 2011, FCCLA will encourage members to sell a sponsorship for the growth of a flower. On a specified day, all students will deliver the flowers they grew to sick children in their local community hospitals. Each sponsor will receive a free packet of Dig It! flower seeds and may choose to participate with FCCLA. A sponsorship will cost $5, with proceeds going to the children’s hospital nearest each participating chapter."

New Texting Law

As of today it is illegal in the State of Missouri for a driver under the age of 21 to write, read or send a text while driving.

The risk of an accident is increased TWENTY THREE times if texting while driving!! NBC News

Fundraiser and Paperwork

FCCLA Members:

Our annual Membership Drive is under way.

We are once again selling Courtney's Candles

(16oz size )

to help you raise money for your dues.

Hurry to get your form, orders are due (with money) September 1st!

If you sell 7 candles, your dues are completely paid. (all or nothing)

If you sell 15 candles, your FCCLA tee is paid for.

If you sell 25 candles, you can get an FCCLA hoodie.

If you have already paid your dues, talk to Mrs. H about using your candles sales to help pay for trips.

If your dues are paid by September 10th, you are eligible to go to the Leadership Training in Carthage on Sept 17th! It's all day.*

Be sure to ask Mrs H for a travel permission form.

*As long as your are eligible to leave school for the day.

Miracle Treat Day and the First Day of School!

On Thursday, August 13, 2009, all participating Dairy Queen®, DQ® Treat Center and DQ® Grill & Chill® locations in the United States and Canada will once again donate proceeds from every Blizzard® Treat sold to Children’s Miracle Network.

Thursday, August 13th is also the first day of school.
Okay, okay, overkill, I know you know that.
However, I am making you an offer you hopefully won't refuse.

On the first day of school, after school, if you have paid your FCCLA dues by the time I am ready to leave Dairy Queen, I will personally, (not FCCLA monies, but ME... I will), buy you a small Blizzard at our local Dairy Queen.
I will meet you there at 4:10 pm and will stay until 4:30 or so.
This is a one time offer.
It will ruin my diet, but hey, I'm sacrificing for YOU!

PS: Did you know that my eldest is a CMN Champion? You'll find out more as the year goes on.

Did you know that school starts Thursday?

I know you do, but thought I'd ask!
I have some requests for you:

If you can, come help at Open House on Monday Night,
6-7:30pm
we'll be handing out FCCLA fliers.
PLEASE wear an FCCLA shirt!

If you can come Monday at noon, we'll be baking mini-cupcakes.

We will hit the ground running with Member Recruitment.

There are some Member Drive incentives that we will introduce
at the first meeting
(whenever Mrs. Fox lets us know Club Days for this year).

There will be incentives for:

• paying your dues during August
  
• recruiting new members
  
• being active in other forms of member recruitment.
  

So let's start thinking FCCLA!!!
