Heads Up!

Next week each of the 6500+ FCCLA chapters will receive an informational/promotional packet about the upcoming DigIt campaign for
Children's Miracle Network.

We will be participating in this promotion and will share with the chapter as soon as we have a chance to look it over.
But here's a sneak peek at the project:

"This truly unique campaign raises money for the amazing Children’s Miracle Network. The campaign leaders consist of 7,000 FCCLA chapters across the country. In the spring of 2010 and 2011, FCCLA will encourage members to sell a sponsorship for the growth of a flower. On a specified day, all students will deliver the flowers they grew to sick children in their local community hospitals. Each sponsor will receive a free packet of Dig It! flower seeds and may choose to participate with FCCLA. A sponsorship will cost $5, with proceeds going to the children’s hospital nearest each participating chapter."

One more time

To all my classroom students and FCCLA members:
I know how much you like to laugh so I thought I'd post a photo of my ensemble from Friday's Pep Rally for your viewing pleasure.
But don't forget the point, this represents the content of the FACS department:
Personal Finance;
Nutrition and Wellness;
FCCLA Leadership;
and Child Development.

So laugh hearty and then, go do your homework!
Or the last laugh will be on you!

Family! It's about Family!

Just a quick note as school has started up:
There are other FCCLA blogs out there in cyberland and I try to keep up with what is going on if I can. I read a very nice post on the Kansas FCCLA Leadership blog written by the 1st State Vice President about remembering our families and being a better family member.
Whether you are in FCCLA or in Personal Finance or any other class, you can make a difference in your family.
So click on over and be challenged. (click on the photo)

Picture from Eudora, KS FCCLA

What can you do for your family?
(that would be the question I want you to answer in your comment)

Be part of it!

Miracle Treat Day and the First Day of School!

On Thursday, August 13, 2009, all participating Dairy Queen®, DQ® Treat Center and DQ® Grill & Chill® locations in the United States and Canada will once again donate proceeds from every Blizzard® Treat sold to Children’s Miracle Network.

Thursday, August 13th is also the first day of school.
Okay, okay, overkill, I know you know that.
However, I am making you an offer you hopefully won't refuse.

On the first day of school, after school, if you have paid your FCCLA dues by the time I am ready to leave Dairy Queen, I will personally, (not FCCLA monies, but ME... I will), buy you a small Blizzard at our local Dairy Queen.
I will meet you there at 4:10 pm and will stay until 4:30 or so.
This is a one time offer.
It will ruin my diet, but hey, I'm sacrificing for YOU!

PS: Did you know that my eldest is a CMN Champion? You'll find out more as the year goes on.

Hello!! Knock, knock. Is this thing ON?

Okay, I know SOMEONE is reading this blog because of the flaming visitor tracker in the right column-->

But I have not had ONE single comment.

This blog is written for my students to keep them informed.

So students: Did you read the post a month ago today about extra credit points?

Have you noticed the Facebook group that our Region has?
Have you visited?
Have you joined?

Did you read about our National Service Project, Children's Miracle Network?

Did you notice the poll in the righ
t hand column, asking YOU about your FCCLA involvement this year? Get involved!!

Did you take note of the activity dates for this year? These are the official Regional, State, and National activities.
What are you going to participate in?Did you save up for Access? Are you going to Cluster?

Okay, so this is the deal.
Make some comments,
let me know you are paying attention!

I'm just the advisor, the facilitator, the one that helps YOU.

FCCLA is only as good as the effort you put into it. Hmmmmm, I think that's how life works too!
So Be Part of It!!!!

P.S. Did I mention extra credit?

Good-Bye Summer!

Did you know that school starts Thursday?

I know you do, but thought I'd ask!

I have some requests for you:

If you can, come help at Open House on Monday Night,
we'll be handing out FCCLA fliers.

PLEASE wear an FCCLA shirt!

If you can come Monday at noon, we'll be baking mini-cupcakes.

We will hit the ground running with Member Recruitment.

There are some Member Drive incentives that we will introduce
at the first meeting
(whenever Mrs. Fox lets us know Club Days for this year).

There will be incentives for:
  • paying your dues during August
  • recruiting new members
  • being active in other forms of member recruitment.

So let's start thinking FCCLA!!!

Be Part Of It!!
